ELANA VAN DER WATH
Senior Lecturer / Programme Leader
School of Architecture and Design
University of Lincoln
(SOUTH AFRICA / ENGLAND, UK / HONG KONG)
Elana van der Wath holds a Master of Interior Architecture (Professional) degree, and a PGCHE qualification from the University of Pretoria. She currently teaches on the Design for Exhibition & Museums degree course at the University of Lincoln. She has teaching experience in South Africa, the UK and Hong Kong and firmly believes that design education should be both responsive and unsettling.
Apart from her interest in crafting (making) as a mode of thinking, she is interested in how spatial design is influenced by, and in turn influences, related disciplines. Current interests include an exploration of the manner in which discourses are embedded in spatial-visual displays; the potential of narrative in public space design; and the role of spatial design as a form of mass media.
