Felix Hardmood Beck holds a Diploma degree (MA) from the Berlin University of the Arts (New Media Design, 2007) and was appointed as Meisterschüler (2012) under the patronage of Prof. Joachim Sauter. Holding the position Assistant Professor of Practice of Design at the New York University Abu Dhabi's Engineering Department, he works in the fields of design, technology and innovation. He is Director of NYUAD's Lab for Narrative Technologies and Spatial Installations (NTSI-Lab), and Head of NYUAD's Precious Plastic Research Group. In his research projects he envisions systems and spaces and creates and deploys innovative objects and installations through design and engineering tools. He develops scenarios and pioneers use-cases for the interaction of humans, digital media and artifacts of the non-digital world.

Felix Beck has gathered practical experience working as media designer and user-experience professional for several renowned German design and architectural studios and clients in business and cultural institutions from 2001 on. His work has been featured in a range of art and design publications and has gone on to several exhibitions and international design festivals. Freelancing as design director he conceives and develops innovative designs for engaging experiences, objects, interactive installations and media environments through physical properties of objects and materials and the use of narrative technologies.

He is a founding member of a registered German charity established with the aim of raising awareness and funds for Pratham’s activities to promote education of slum dwelling children India. He lives with his family in the United Arab Emirates.
