Jim Speers is an artist and teaches at the University of Auckland’s Elam School of Fine Arts. He collaborates as part of a collective called Field Recordings which involves a combination of Chinese and New Zealand artists. Projects done with this group have been exhibited at Shanghai’s Rockbund Museum and at the Centre Pompidou in Paris. Jim is presently making a film that explores the life of a fishing town in Japan.
