Rodrigo Buelvas is a multidisciplinary designer, creative thinker and educator. He received his Bachelor of Science, Industrial Science from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Colombia. To pursue his interest in space, objects and human behavior, he moved to Savannah, Georgia and earned his Master of Arts in Interior Design from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in 2007.

After working in product and exhibition design, with clients such as Mercedes Benz, Adidas, and Hunter Douglas, he decided to pursue his interest in interior design. As a Senior Designer at Skidmore, Owings, & Merrill (SOM), Buelvas worked on architectural and interior design projects in China, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Colombia, Philippines, Indonesia, Russia, The United Kingdom, Canada and the U.S.A. His global exposure and forward thinking approach, had enabled him to work on innovative projects, such as designing AMIE 1.0 the first 3D printed micro-living unit in the world, creating a functional technology integrated conference table, Halcon Mesa - winning the best of the year Interior Design award for best product, receiving recognition for most beautiful and innovative design. He also was part of the interior design team for the outstanding project OKO tower in Moscow, which will be the tallest building in Europe.

With more than 10 years of industry experience adding educator to his profile. Buelvas is passionate about improving the students’ learning experience, collaborating with stakeholders to enhance academic programs and working with industry professionals for interdisciplinary studies, experimental practice, and community partnership.
