SUZIE ATTIWILL, Ph.D

Dr. Suzie Attiwill is Associate Dean Interior Design in the School of Architecture and Urban Design, RMIT University, Melbourne. Prior to this, she was the Deputy Dean Learning and Teaching. Since 1991, she has practised in the fields of exhibition design, curatorial work, writing and teaching. Creative practice research is conducted through a practice of designing with a curatorial inflection attending to arrangements (and rearrangements) of spatial, temporal and material relations that re-pose questions of interior and interiority in relation to contemporary conditions of living, inhabitation, subjectivity, pedagogy and praxis. Her research has been published as book chapters, journal articles, keynotes and workshops nationally and internationally. Previous roles include Artistic Director, Craft Victoria; Chair, West Space Artist Led Initiative; Chair, IDEA (Interior Design/Interior Architecture Educators Association) and Executive Editor, IDEA Journal. She holds a PhD (Interior Design, RMIT University), MA (Design, RMIT University), BA Hons (Interior Design, RMIT University), BA Hons (Art History/Indian Studies, University of Melbourne) and a Certificate in Applied Arts (Textiles/Weaving).
