Dr. Theodore Prudon, FAIA, FAPT, FoIFI, BNADr. Prudon was born in The Netherlands, trained as an architect in the United States (MSArch and PhD, Columbia University) and The Netherlands (MSArchEng, Delft Technical University); holds professional licenses in seven US states, as well as in The Netherlands; and has an NCARB certificate.

Prudon is an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University's Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation, and has taught in Columbia's Graduate Program for Historic Preservation since 1973; and has been on faculty at the Pratt Institute School of Architecture, Graduate Program for Historic Preservation since 1986.

Before forming Prudon & Partners, he was in two large architectural firms in New York City, The Ehrenkrantz Group and Swanke Hayden Connell, both no longer extant. The scope of his portfolio spans public buildings, state capitols, churches, synagogues, theaters, educational facilities, private residences, libraries, park structures (including fountains, terraces) as well as interiors and period furniture.

Currently, he is President of DOCOMOMO US, and serves on the Advisory Board of DOCOMOMO International, and a number of other professional, charitable and civic organizations.

Prudon is the author of the widely acclaimed book Preservation and Modern Architecture (Wiley and Sons, 2008), which has also been translated into Japanese and Chinese, in 2012 and 2016 respectively. The book was awarded the Lee H. Nelson Award in 2008 by the Association for Preservation Technology International. In 2016, he received the Architecture Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters.

He has lectured widely and has 70+ trade and scholarly articles published in the US and around the world.
